Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Went to catch this Michael Cera movie called "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" (It was based upon the novel of the same name by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.) with Noi. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the movie made me feel, despite it being a romantic-teen-comedy film.

Nick, the straight bassist, in the queercore band "The Jerk-Offs" (lol the name!) was nursing a broken heart after a break-up from his ex, Tris (really do not like her!) met Norah when he jammed at a club. Set against a cool soundtrack of indie gems, the movie protrays the awkard emotions of teenagers... searching for the obscure band "Where's Fluffy?" and Norah's drunken friend, Caroline. When the credits rolled, I had this giggly-smile on my face :)

The soundtrack includes awesome tracks from We Are Scientists, Vampire Weekend, etc.

P.S. i heard the novel is even better than the film! Gotta check it out :)

Portishead - Third

Finally!!! The album i have long been waiting for!!! My favourite band... The band was formed in Bristol, UK in 1991, by Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons and Adrian Utley. After releasing a short film (To Kill a Dead Man) and its accompanying music, Portishead signed a record deal with Go! Beat Records.

Nice album cover... with the number "3" and the letter "P" fused together neatly, overlapping each other yet co-existing harmoniously as one, in their own strong distinctiveness. Without being over-whelming so. A perfect union.

great music to listen to during my brooding moments...

"We really wanted to sound like ourselves but not sound like ourselves. It was always going to be difficult." - Geoff Barrow, Pitchfork Media interview, Apr. 7, 2008.

dead shark

*There is a scene in Woody Allen's Annie Hall when, on a plane back from a disastrous trip to Los Angeles, Allen's character Alvi and the film’s namesake are forced to concede that their relationship is over and Alvi explains: “I think relationships are like sharks, y’know they have to keep moving forwards or they die… and I think what we have on our hands here is a dead shark.”

*Street Art Magazine Dec 2007

my relationship with k is a dead shark... T_T
i think i knew it deep down... i just thot we could keep on working at it...
but we know it was really no use, to keep working at something that is dead...
i want to hold on to it so badly, deceiving myself that i could,
but i know i can't, and you won't let me.
i could beg and you could plead...
not to let this end this way.
you once said what we had was true,
something precious.
but now you don't want it.
oh i want to hold it,
but i know you won't let me.
