SOS

sorry noi, cm, & pple... i haven't been really updating this site. now, what was i busy with? lemme see... depression, heartaches, stress, anime, manga, nintendo ds lite, online shopping, oh yeah, did i also mention work? it's probably just work.

i never rave about online games. never was a gamer to begin with. but lately, this particular one is really cool (read: cute)

it's Secret of the Solstice by outspark. it's a free massively-multiplayer role-playing game (MMORPG) which invites players to create a character and save the fantasy world of Xen. Aspiring heroes (you need to start out as a Xenian first) have access to plenty of in-game quests, unique and colorful items for their characters and an innovative smelting system for enhancing equipment. this is now the open beta period and anyone can join in the fun :)

here are some screen-shots! look for me when you're in!
[note: all images are outspark's. i merely did screen-shots of the game]

right now's the xmas period! the recent re-opened beta even added in a xmas tree at the akarinas square and even a santa who will give you gifts if you complete certain tasks! :)

download the game client and discover the Secret of the Solstice and… save the world.

mario 1up

just did a simple embroidery of 1up (mario needs to collect 100 coins for 1up hehe) on my creative mp3 player pouch despite my poor sewing ability. hmmm, does it look like 1up?

new project: embroidery of mario raccoon, yoshi :)

cute 1up wallpaper [1024 x 768]

getting a nintendo DS soon to feed my increasing nostalgia of my old nintendo famicom (which was given away ~ don't ask me why *sobs*) missed those games e.g. "contra", "street fighter" & "mario world" so much.

look at these remote-controlled mini mario bots walk... (with the joy pad)

hey i wish mario mini bot could jump!

Nouvelle Vague Live @ Zouk

not a good pic - taken with my lousy nokia
(wish those people would not stand on the platform blocking our view)

It was worth it after all!! After more than an hour's queue at the entrance... we (thanks Andy for coming with me ^-^ it was also Andy's bday that day!) finally managed to squeeze ourselves somewhere where we were able to see the stage. Gin and tonic in hand and chilling with the band live! Great live performances from the singers and the band. There's always something about live performances... truly awesome. I'm really glad i was there.

The set included (not in particular order; the song that i could remember):-
Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division)
In A Manner Of Speaking (Depeche Mode)
This Is Not A Love Song (Public Image)
Too Drunk To Fuck (The Dead Kennedys)
Making Plans For Nigel (XTC)
Dancing With Myself (Billy Idol)
Heart Of Glass (Blondie)
Bela Lugosi's Dead (Bauhaus)
The Killing Moon (Echo And The Bunnymen)

As with tradition, Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division) was performed as the last song... with an extended encore.

It was a great nite to remember.

Nouvelle Vague

What is a Nouvelle Vague?

It's "new wave," it's "bossa nova" ...

Nouvelle Vague is two well seasoned, multi-instrumentalists / producers, Marc Colins and Oliver Libaus, who have found the beauty and heart in the sounds from this era and transformed them - cleverly merging and arranging this radical music. Some of the songs are stripped back to acoustic arrangements with lithe shaker rhythms achieved by gathering a parade of heavenly chanteuses from all over the world (six French, one Brazilian and one New Yorker) as guest vocalists to sex up everyone form XTC and Modern English to The Clash and The Undertones.

Following 2004's self-titled release, from French duo who cover 80s new wave and new romantic songs in a loungecore/tropicalia style. Self-consciously arty and ironic - their name references the 60s French "new wave" of cinema and the album is named for the cult film ('Band Of Outsiders') by Jean-Luc Godard - their gimmick has nonetheless made them one of the Peacefrog label's biggest sellers. Other highlights include, 'The Killing Moon' (Echo and the Bunnymen), 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' (Bauhaus), 'Blue Monday' (New Order) and many more! They magically mine the nostalgia for the early ‘80s, post-punk era bossa nova style. ( www.cdnow.com )

Nouvelle Vague performing @ Zouk
Admission $12 before 10pm; $20/$25 after

i dun like to say goodbyes... cos departures make me sad.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say good night till it be morrow."
~ Romeo and Juliet (Juliet at II, ii)

"If we must part forever, Give me but one kind word to think upon, And please myself with, while my heart's breaking."
~ Thomas Otway's The Orphan (act III, sc. 1)

nada sou sou 涙そうそう - the movie

nada sou sou (涙そうそう) is showing soon (29 Mar) in the theatres but i believe it has been out for a while in other countries. they say this is a tear-jerker again. it's directed by Nobuhiro Doi, the same director of the movie be with you. i wonder if it is as good as the other jap movies i've watched so far... e.g. "Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu (世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ )" some say it's a simple story with a predictable ending. i might just check it out to see how it really is.

nurul... says f***

nurul's bday!! we got her a hazel nutty cake and some (offending) candles to go with ^^... dimmed the room, brought in the cake and gave her such a surprise that all she could say was "f***" (x 10, i lost count...) lol

the cake's good i was enjoying myself while nurul undo 20 wrappings to finally get her hands on the pressie - a Muse CD + DVD ^^from us!!

the nite b4 i was almost dozing off on my keyboard designing this bday card. [it was a little too rushed...] but i sure like the color and the upside-down bread man on it!

the words are sooooo hard to think off... my brain was shut down and all i could come up with are these cheesy lines lol

the words - close up!
