Nouvelle Vague

What is a Nouvelle Vague?

It's "new wave," it's "bossa nova" ...

Nouvelle Vague is two well seasoned, multi-instrumentalists / producers, Marc Colins and Oliver Libaus, who have found the beauty and heart in the sounds from this era and transformed them - cleverly merging and arranging this radical music. Some of the songs are stripped back to acoustic arrangements with lithe shaker rhythms achieved by gathering a parade of heavenly chanteuses from all over the world (six French, one Brazilian and one New Yorker) as guest vocalists to sex up everyone form XTC and Modern English to The Clash and The Undertones.

Following 2004's self-titled release, from French duo who cover 80s new wave and new romantic songs in a loungecore/tropicalia style. Self-consciously arty and ironic - their name references the 60s French "new wave" of cinema and the album is named for the cult film ('Band Of Outsiders') by Jean-Luc Godard - their gimmick has nonetheless made them one of the Peacefrog label's biggest sellers. Other highlights include, 'The Killing Moon' (Echo and the Bunnymen), 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' (Bauhaus), 'Blue Monday' (New Order) and many more! They magically mine the nostalgia for the early ‘80s, post-punk era bossa nova style. ( www.cdnow.com )
